For those seeking Iranian cuisine or kabobs, this establishment is the ideal choice. It has become our preferred destination whenever we experience such cravings. My husband and I visited for a late lunch on New Year's Day around 3 PM. Upon our arrival, the restaurant was moderately busy, but by the time we departed, it was completely full. We have a deep appreciation for this family-run restaurant, where it is evident that they invest their passion and dedication into both their culinary offerings and customer service. I opted for baghali polo, while my husband chose the barg and kubideh combination. The dishes truly reflect authentic home cooking, rich in flavor. We commenced our meal with Mast Kheyer, a delightful combination of yogurt and cucumbers, alongside Olivieh, a savory potato salad featuring pulled chicken. If you have yet to experience this appetizer, it is highly recommended. The baghali polo with lamb shank was exceptional. The meat was so tender that it effortlessly fell off the bone, requiring no knife for cutting. It was served atop a generous portion of basmati rice accompanied by fava beans and dill. This dish ranks among my favorites in Iranian cuisine, with the aromatic dill enhancing the rice and complementing the lamb beautifully. The barg and kubideh, paired with grilled tomatoes and saffron basmati rice, were equally impressive. The meat was succulent, juicy, and immensely satisfying. The bread, served with chutney and butter, was simply divine. I found it impossible to resist requesting an additional basket. We finished our meal with the Saffron ice cream. So creamy and delicious. The service was outstanding, with staff consistently checking in to ensure our satisfaction with the food and overall experience. Their genuine care for customers is palpable. Not only is the food exquisite, but the service is also exemplary. We take great pleasure in supporting this establishment, which also serves as our preferred catering option. If you have yet to visit, I highly recommend giving them a try; you will not be disappointed.
Great spot! I heard good things about Amoos and had to give it a try. There was an older gentleman who I presume is the owner who greeted me at the front and was very kind. The food was also great- the chicken was very well seasoned and tender. I also had enough leftovers for dinner.
We called this restaurant when we were 20 minutes away and asked if they can have our table and food prepared. They were so accommodating and did just that we had our drink and food within 10 minutes of sitting down. We had chicken and rice and barg Kabab. All of which was delicious. Everyone that works at the restaurants so pleasant and welcoming, the restaurant is quant and clean. I would recommend anyone that wants to try Persian food in this area!
Amazing Persian food Best koobideh I've ever had to be quite blunt Service was also very nice. Owner squeezed us in even during a busy night. Would definitely recommend
Very good. Prices are a little high, but that's kind of the usual thing for kebob. We mainly go for carryout. The decor is not that inspiring to me.
Wonderful traditional Persian food. Some of the best tasting kabobs I have ever had. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I think this has become our new kabobs place.
Really good Persian food with excellent service. Chicken was flavorful and tender and the variety of different kinds of chicken dishes was great. The restaurant is small and has a small parking lot, but it's probably not a problem unless there's a major even happening at the restaurant. It's not very close to where we live so being regulars isn't going to happen, but if we are down in the area, I would gladly return.
The only & only place in NOVA to get the most tender, flavorful, authentic Persian food. The owner(s) are super sweet and accommodating, the restaurant itself is clean, and the food is to die for. Have been here at least 8 times and it gets better with every visit!! Mast mousir 5/5 yogurt with shallot on their fresh pita bread is a must-order for an app. Chimichurri sauce 1000/5 I ask for extras EVERY TIME and take it back home with me. Yes, it's that good. Koobideh 5/5 phenomenal beef skewers paired with ample amounts of saffron and butter rice and roasted tomato. Saffron juicy 4.5/5 juiciest chicken I've had to date. Huge portions and divine when paired with chimichurri sauce and sumac. Amoo's is WAY better than Shamshiry in my humble opinion... and the loyal customers who frequent Amoo's would agree with me.
Deliciousness - 4/5 Happiness 5/5 This was a really fun time at a truly unique middle eastern restaurant. You want quantity? The size of these entrees can sate the growliest tummy. You want quality? Flavors and unique offerings galore. Your wallet's in a pinch? No problem, as there are plenty of affordable options (and you'll definitely have leftovers). What I particularly enjoyed were some of the options that you don't see too often. The Tahdig is a must-have appetizer if you're eating with a group - a mini meal in itself, you get truly flavorful crispy rice topped with wonderfully cooked meat to share. I also really loved the option to get a cornish game hen as the gamy taste of the meat paired well with the saffron lime spice blend they grilled it in. We got the house wine, which was very flavorful. And my wife particularly enjoyed saffron ice cream (a dessert I've not come across - loaded with pistachios as well). The lamb is juicy and fall of the bone (if you're wise enough to get it bone-in), and everything had a great char to it. The service was also really great. We were warmly greeted, the waiter struck a great balance of engaging and letting us have our conversation, and everyone we met was friendly. I can't praise them enough for the fun service and meal.
4/8/24 On our way from the Great Falls VA to DC, google Maps suggested this along the way, and we decided to stop in for something different. Ana and Estelle were friendly and helpful. We haven't been to many Persian restaurants, so it took time to understand the menu Saffron Iced Tea and Saffron Hot Tea Both were delicious, so refreshing. Kashk Bademjan Dip - Yogurt Eggplant Dip This was so good, spreading it on the bread. Mahicheh with Tahdig - Lamb Shank with bottom of the pot rice aka Concon aka Pegao Of course, hubby had to get the rice. His Dominican blood would not stand for him to pass this up, LOL. And he loved it. Cornish Hen with Baghali Polo They cut the Cornish Hen up for easy eating. I love that! It's so small and hard to eat when whole. Lima Bean rice was delicious. I'm so sad they are so far away. I would love to try everything on the menu!
